Bite the Hand Productions is working on creating a theatre troupe called Immediate Theatre that regularly engages in workshops together and collaborates on plays and theatrical happenings. Contact us if you are interested in creating.

Our Plays and Happenings we want to do include:

Beatta: A mystical story of a woman out of time.

Boom Boom: An in-your-face farce of a violent and hypocritical culture.

1930: An epic play about the decisions made by families and governments during the Great Depression.

Concientizar: A theatrical happening where the troupe uses theatre to facilitate revolutionary discussions with the public.

…………………………………………………

We want to workshop regularly on these themes

Status and Space: Come and learn how to make interesting and sustainable action on stage using simple concepts of status and space.

Spontaneity and Storytelling: How does a story work? How do you unlock spontaneity? Come find out more…

Mime and Maskwork: How to move, how to work with different masks…

Paper Mache and Puppets: How to create an incredible ensemble made only of paper and corn starch.  The best actors are also very biodegradable.

how about producing

Cell Block 25: A hip-hop musical about pluralistic psycho-spiritual awakening and redemption on death row.

Haven and hell? Good and Evil? LSD and the SHU? Pop-post modernism, god, Satan and leapricons? Count me in.

or,

Highway 311: An Iraq war veteran returns home after serving as a MP at Abu Gareb. Now a security guard at a KKK-Mart in rural Northern California. As a part of a well armed militia he continues to do his part making his store the front line in homeland security. A story of Arab mis-identity, the romance of a “war on anything”, fear culture, and a queer sense of hope.

There’s an anti-war play that I have wanted to see put on for a long time now, even if I have to direct it myself. It’s called ‘The Monument’ by Colleen Wagner. It only requires two actors and very little in the way of props or set. It was originally written about the Bosnian conflict in the early 90’s but doesn’t mention anything specifically by name, so it’s pretty universal. Not exactly a light hearted affair though.
